Day 1 - Drive from Haridwar to Auli
We drove from the Holi city of Haridwar to Auli in a small tempo traveller. The entire 280 kms drive were through mountains and rivers running along the roads.
In Auli we stayed at Himalayan Eco lodge which is part of GIO. The lodge had a nice overview of the all the nearby mountain ranges and a beautiful apple and flowers garden.
Day 2 - Trek from Govind ghat to Gangaria
The next morning, we took a short ride to Govind ghat. This is at around 6000 ft altitude and from this the climb to our basecamp in Gangaria (approx 10,000 ft) beings. Today's trek is about 14 kms of climb.
During the trek, the river Alaknanda runs along the train and there are water falls and streams cutting through the mountains all around us.
